Will the network be 3G? I just want to be able to watch the Reds on my phone.
based on size of markets we can either be first or last since were smaller than most, I'm saying sooner. Why else can you get an iPhone in the tri-cities and it works until you get out of Norton. Based on size of the Dakotas area it could put us either way.

This is from the Merger FAQ on the new Alltel.com page you get when you type in a local zip code.
Q. Will subscribers in these areas have access to 3G services? If so, when will they have access to 3G?
A. Yes, AT&T expects to roll out 3G service to all of the acquired properties. That said, the network integration and customer transition process will take approximately 12 months. We?ll be introducing service on a market-by-market basis as this work is completed.
You'll shoot your eye out.

I wouldn't count on the 3G coverage too soon. They have yet to get it in my area unless you drive up to Radford or Christiansburg.
i highly doubt we will be getting any decent 3g coverage in this area for quite some time. remember the high quality FO lines we were supposed to be getting to boost the net?![]()
Cant we all just get along?
Lee County has fiber optic internet through Clariti Media/Sunset Digital. They have built out in the far reaches of the county that Comcast or Verizion wouldn't bring high speed. They have packages that are 10 Mb/s, 25 Mb/s, and 100 Mb/s.
But I would be willing to bet that when AT&T switches our area over from CDMA technology to GSM/UTMS then they will bring 3G along with it. They would have a war on their hands to downgrade an area they just purchased from 3G to EDGE. People (including myself) would be flocking to Verizon as fast as possible.
I'm still having problems in the Norton area with dropped calls and my phone constantly jumping back and forth between 1x and 1xev. Been going round and round with Alltel over this with no luck. Anyone else still having problems with this?
